Subject: XTAG meeting, Thursday, May 17, 10:30-12
-
From: Tonia Bleam <tbleam@linc.cis.upenn.edu>
-
Date: Tue, 15 May 2001 16:05:17 -0400 (EDT)
Topic for this week: Relative Clauses (RCs)
Chung-hye will present a flat semantics analysis of adjunct relative
clauses (e.g., "The place in which John lives is a dump"/ "The place
where John lives is a dump"), extending her earlier analysis of argument
RCs.
Tonia will show how Chung-hye's analysis of RCs (in general) can be used
to account for extraposed relatives as well (e.g., "A problem arose which
was difficult").
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A CHANGE IN ** NEXT WEEK'S ** MEETING:
Instead of meeting on Thursday, May 24th, we will meet on Tuesday, May
22nd, from 3:30 to 5.
This week's meeting is at the normal time and place.
