VideoMoCap: A Video Based Motion Capture System
We have developed an interactive software tool that can be used to recover the 3D motion of one or more actors from video footage. Importantly, the scheme does not require calibrated cameras or instrumented actors which means that it can be used to recover motion sequences from video clips of actual performances such as basketball games or skateboarding exhibitions. We have also used the system to recover the motion of actors in archival footage like I Love Lucy episodes. A further advantage of our system is that it allows us to easily capture the interaction of multiple figures in a scene. We envision that this software could be used as an animator's aid since it provides the user with a simple and effective tool for producing animations that are consistent with an input video sequence.

N.B. The above movie is an WMV format and requires a fairly up to date version of Windows Media Player. It is known to work with Media Player version 9. The movie is 3.5 minutes long and the total file size is approx 10MB.
