Description:
The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania continues to expand rapidly. As a key pillar of these investments, the Department of Computer and Information Science is engaged in an ambitious, multi-year hiring effort for tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. We have hired over 25 new faculty, spanning all ranks, over the past 6 years.
We seek individuals with stellar research achievement and potential, who will excel in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and take a position of international leadership in defining their field of study. Leadership in cross-disciplinary collaborations is of particular interest. Successful applicants will find Penn to be a stimulating environment conducive to professional growth. This position will start July 1, 2025.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline. We seek exceptional candidates in all areas of computer science, with a special interest in computer security, data science and artificial intelligence, machine learning systems, bioinformatics and computational biology, computer systems, quantum computing, and information visualization. Penn Engineering IDEAS Initiative – Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Machine Learning 2025
Description
The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania is growing its faculty, thanks to a major $750M investment in science, engineering and medicine. As part of this initiative, the Center for Innovation in Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) is engaged in an aggressive hiring effort for multiple tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Machine Learning.
IDEAS is seeking candidates who are experts in artificial intelligence, who will take a position of international leadership in defining their field of study and who will excel in undergraduate and graduate education.
Areas of interest include but are not limited to:
- Artificial Intelligence Foundations
- Generative AI
- Trustworthy AI
Leadership in multi-disciplinary collaborations involving AI is of particular interest, leveraging Penn’s strengths in cutting-edge scientific and clinical data. Opportunities for interactions across the University include the AIRFoundry for RNA synthesis, the Warren Center for Networks and Data Science, the Center for AI-Enabled Systems (ASSET), the PRECISE Center for Safe AI, the GRASP Laboratory, the Center for AI and Data Science for Integrated Diagnostics (AI2D), Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI), the Singh Center for Nanotechnology, the Materials Research Science & Engineering Center (MRSEC), the Center for Soft and Living Matter, the Center for Mechanobiology, and Penn Institute for Computational Science (PICS).

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or related areas. Primary appointments will be in the academic Department most appropriate for the candidate within the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Joint appointments with other departments in other schools will also be considered.

CIS Lecturer Positions 2025

The University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Computer & Information Science is pleased to welcome applications for multiple teaching positions as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. It is a very exciting time to be engaged in computer science education at Penn, as we are experiencing incredible growth and interest in CS courses at all levels, are developing new on-campus and online learning programs, and are rapidly growing the size of our faculty (over 20 hires in the last 5 years).
We are seeking dedicated, accomplished, full-time instructors to teach introductory-sequence courses, undergraduate electives, and Master’s-level courses in software engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, software systems, cyber security, and other areas, starting in July 2025.
Additionally (see separate job posting), as part of our revamped teaching-track faculty career path, we also have an open Practice Assistant Professor position. This is a great career choice for teaching-focused faculty members who have a track record of published research in engineering education and are interested in developing and publishing on innovative pedagogical techniques.
