My research interests include real-time, embedded systems, cyber-physical systems (CPS),
distributed systems, and security. I am especially interested in theoretical foundations
and systems techniques for building cost-effective large-scale systems with provable safety,
fault tolerance, security, and real-time performance. Recently, I have worked on compositional
scheduling and analysis techniques, reliable real-time cloud infrastructure for safety-critical
and mission-critical applications, the Internet of Things, and network function virtualization,
as well as methods for diagnosing performance problems in data centers.
Some of the projects I am currently working on include:
efficient real-time fault tolerance techniques for distributed CPS,
scalable adaptive resource allocation for modern hardware,
computation-aware algorithmic design for CPS under uncertainty,
fault detection, isolation and recovery strategies for distributed robotic systems,
a new approach to defending cyber-physical systems and the cloud against security attacks, and
a radically different architecture for large-scale data centers.
